Strategic Plan Activities

A circular image features vectors and the words Policy and Advocacy, Strengthen and Develop Partnerships, award scholarships, member events, communication with members, grow our members.

 

 The key focus areas for the PHAA NSW branch are:

  1. Overseeing the continuing growth and vibrant activity of the PHAA NSW Branch, including by organising regular member events.
  2. Representing PHAA, in liaison with National Office as needed, in interactions with the NSW Government, Parliament and committees, health agencies, local media and local community
  3. Making submissions, in liaison with National Office, to NSW Parliament and other agencies and stakeholders on NSW level policy issues.

Portrait of Kate McBride

Kate is an epidemiologist, mixed methods public health researcher, and Associate Professor in Population Health at Western Sydney University. Kate has more than 15 years’ experience in population health and chronic disease research including development, evaluation and translation of lifestyle interventions and exploration of barriers to healthcare. Kate is a passionate advocate for the health of high risk, marginalised populations through the optimisation of healthcare access among these individuals. She also coordinates and teaches on several epidemiology and population health at Western Sydney University, and in 2020-2021 was seconded to Western Sydney Public Health Unit where she led the case investigation team educator during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic which further developed her special interest in public health workforce capacity and development.
